What is Life Coaching?

Life coaching is a unique process to provide support and guidance for individual moving through a change process toward greater fulfillment and life satisfaction. Deeply Embedded in the resourcefulness worldview, life coaching differentiates itself from psychotherapy, which is mostly applied on pathology worldview, by helping clients to tap into their own wisdom and life experience to explore and identify their strength, resource, and opportunities to create future based on awareness, value aligned vision and goal-oriented action plan.  Rather than taking clients as patients, diagnosing diseases, and implementing exited solutions, coaches work with people from a growth mindset, fucus on “what’s right”, and collaborate with people to clarify their feelings, values and visions, which are leading to creative insight, self-motivated actions and deep, lasting and real transformations.

Why life coaching?

While holding a safe and non-judgmental space, coaches offer an open-ended way of communication, empowering their clients by asking inspiring questions through the process of active listening, and sincere empathizing. When people are feeling secure and fully open to their body, mind, soul and spirit, creative awareness and insight will be beautifully emerged with a sense of alignment and harmony inside their beings, which is empowering transition into a higher level of life fulfilment.

What make positive psychology-based life coaching unique and more efficient?

Positive psychology is based on what we call “well-being model”.  While traditional psychology focuses on “what’s wrong”, positive psychology bases on “what’s right”- a totally different philosophy and perspective that shift people’s eyes to from “what’s my problems” and “how psychology defines my illness” to “what I’m good at” and “where I want to be”.

My coaching is based on positive psychology, which means I will share positive psychology knowledge and scientific research with my clients and inspire them a better understanding and awareness of where they’re now from the perspective of a more objective angle.  According to “Broaden-and-Build Theory”(Barbara Fredrickson, 2004), when people in a more positive state, they’re more likely to expand the inventory of their thoughts and minds, which enable them to explore novel opportunities to build up enduring physical, mental and social resources and meaningful relationship.

What I love most as a positive psychology-based life coach?

Knowledge enables awareness, awareness enables self-compassion, self-compassion enables self-motivation and change. The most beautiful part of my job is that it offers me so many opportunities to witness fabulous change and transition in people’s life. There is struggling, suffering, and confusing of course, and there is also endless unfolding, growing and transforming. While I was crying with them, screaming with them, laughing with them, I was also unfolding, growing and transforming with them. It’s a journey hand-by-hand.

And there is not a “Why Me”

I believe the universe will always give us someone that we would reach out for help and support if we’re really longing for it.

It’s not necessary to be me, a life coach. It would be a friend, a collage, a pastor, or even your kid. It also would be some other life coaches who fit you better.

We really need this “someone” in our life, while we’re feeling weak and stuck, anxious and frustrated, to unconditionally embrace our emotions and encourage us to move forward.  We do appreciate such a safe and open space, to pour out our heart and soul, to hold our feelings as we’re feeling our feelings. When empathy happens, healing and growing happen.
